ode to the Hot fries

I just realized I have not done anything with this blog since November. Unfortunately not a tremendous amount of progress to report. I did hit the 40 pound mark and have some restriction. I can't decide how I feel about things. Other than toast, bread is out. I have very little appetitie, but still find myself gravitating towards easy foods. I love, love, love Andy Capps hot Fries and Resee's cups, though I have laid off as of late. I finally started losing again. I thought I was going to retire at the 34 pound mark. I signed up for a 10K at the end of March so I best get off my arse and start running.

Where oh where has my restriction gone???

Well, the first fill did not take. I was quite hopefill but no such luck. I had restriction until the end of my tropical smoothie. I have actually thought of trying to swallow a bowling ball just to make sure I still have the band. I will admit I am not rushing to et the second fill. I have scheduled it for December 3rd, I could have gotten it this Thursday but you run the risk of being too tight and not being able to eat anything at all over thanksgiving. I am confident I will not over do it but I also do not want to have a Turkey shake. As I have maxed out on out of pocket I plan to get my fills in December done under Flouro. We will see after that. Work gets hectic around the holidays. I am in logistics and the freight never sleeps. I was previously a counselor working for the Department of Corrections so holidays had their own issues then. So haooy turkey day to all and try nit to overeat,

JUST CALL ME FILL

Had my first fill yesterday. I am down 33 pounds. My DR. does all of his own fills and is pretty aggressive. He put in 5.2 cc's and I could feel liquids going down for the first couple of hours but then felt normal again. 24 more hours of liquids and then onto mushies. Hopefully I will get at least a little restriction.

Ok, So I took some liberties with the poster of 300, and edited to show that I have lost 30 pounds as of today. I am psyched. I have learned to cope with eating very little and managing hunger the best I can. I am eating about 1000 calories a day. I think i could fit a bowling through my band at this point. I am close to 1/3 of a way to my goal in a short period of time. The loss has slowed as I had expected but I am still losing. I am a regular on lapbandtalk.com, and I like to think that I am supportive person but I sometimes tire of people who have been on pre or post op diets saying it is impossible. It is tough but, not impossible. Many look for justification for cheating by having everyone tell them it is ok. I think everyone cheats at some point. I figured out if you try hard enough a Reese cup can be a mushy. I will always lend support, but I am going to give my opinion. That applies to my screw ups as well, which will be many I am sure It is a marathon not a sprint. ( believe it or not I did not make that cliche up)

My view on Lapband Doctors. Let me start by saying my Doctor is great. No complaints. No time limits between fills, no excessive amounts of time on clear liquids mushies etc. I am convinced some of these doctors are sadists. 3 week clear liquids only, 3 week pre and 3 week post-op liquids only. Mushies for a month. The problem is that it seems that there is not even close to a consensus as to what to do. Most people answer posts that if you Doctor said a 5 week liquid diet is in order then you must do it or you will damage the band. Really???? will you? So if my Doctor said liquid for a week and mushies for 2 weeks does that mean I am screwed? Or did he use a magic Technique that made me heal faster? No, they pretty much use the same technique they just have different ideas. I just wish there was some consensus. I know I sound like a cynical person. I am really not. This is just one of my pet peeves.

Ok, so here is my first foray into the world of blogging. The first picture is me at my 40th birthday Party. I was forced to wear the beanie with propeller and Harry Potter glasses. I know, I know, I have seen similar pictures on wanted posters. Unfortunately, that is not a fake chin. It is my own. The next picture is that of me now. I am down 29 pounds in about a month and some change. Has it been easy? Not at all. Has it been worth it? so far it has. I do not have a fill yet so to this point I am running on sheer willpower. I will have more to come in the following days. My first fill is on the 29th. Looking forward to it.
